"TOUCHING BASE - THE HERE AND NOW" was one of the many highlights of the Night Marathon of Radio Art on the occasion of "Recycling the Future - 10 Years of Radio Art", but it was broadcast early in the morning and in the FM 4 program. Which is why this new piece by the founder of the legendary cassette edition Audio Arts is now being presented in the program of Österreich 1. The piece is a simultaneous conversation between individuals which overcomes all temporal, geographic, cultural, linguistic and spatial barriers. This is made possible by a special strategy developed by William Furlong, who originally comes from the field of fine arts. The strategy involves "reconstructed" languages and sounds, which he uses as a transmitter, practically as a common denominator. A method which makes it easy for historical personalities from various parts of the world to talk to other from different periods of time, for example the present or the future. This results in a "language composition", with an attempt to set universal and global communication into movement. The traditional barriers with which we are familiar, which are associated with language lose their solidity and linguistic differences become irrelevant. A form of conversation, contained and transmitted in a linguistic shell, develops which frees itself from the mooring of historical events and meaning. William Furlong published cuts and interviews from the event RECYCLING THE FUTURE in his cassette edition AUDIO ARTS. Ordering and other information: AUDIOARTS@aol.com
