KUNSTRADIO - RADIOKUNST

Roberto Paci Dalò zählt zu den Pionieren der Radiokunst im Internet (RADIOLADA ging bereits1995 online). Bereits in den frühen 90er Jahren beteiligte sich Paci Dalò an den ersten Telekommunikationskunstprojekten des Kunstradios, wie etwa dem Projekt Realtime. Durch seine oftmalige Teilnahme hat Paci Dalò die Entwicklung der kollaborativen on air-(on line)-on site Projekte des Kunstradios entscheidend mitgeprägt.

Im Zentrum des Projektes BLUE STORIES von Roberto Paci Dalò steht "live cinema", ein Schritt auf dem Weg zum Kino der Zukunft. Durch die Verwendung digitaler Technologie, so Paci Dalò, ist es möglich Kino als eine Art Performancekunst zu betrachten. Mit seinem Projekt BLUE STORIES lässt Paci Dalò den Traum vieler KinobesucherInnen - live am Set zu sein - wahr werden, denn BLUE STORIES wird im Moment der Live-Performance produziert, aus einer Vielzahl an sound- und video-samples, die Paci Dalò zum Teil direkt am Ort der Performance aufnimmt. Im Rahmen des Kunstradios wird BLUE STORIES zum ersten mal im Radio und zeitgleich im Internet stattfinden und neue Wege der Interaktion zwischen diesen beiden Medien und den "Performance-BesucherInnen" ausloten. Wer sich sowohl den Radio- als auch den Internetmix anhört, der kann sich gewissermaßen seinen eigenen VIENNA REMIX von BLUE STORIES zusammenstellen. Die beiden Audio-Streams werden durch einen ebenfalls live gemischten und im Internet übertragenen Video-Stream ergänzt.

Roberto Paci Dalo: "Yves Klein und Derek Jarman führen mich in eine blaue Welt, eine Welt des Sehens und des Hörens. Dazu gesellt sich noch die bahnbrechende Arbeit von Dziga Vertov und seinem Kinoglaz. BLUE STORIES ist ein Projekt über das Kino. In einem 360 Grad Schwenk verbindet es das fruehe Kino mit den digitalen Technologien, eine alte mit einer neuen Handwerklichkeit der Filmkunst. Hier - zwischen Expanded Cinema und neuen Formaten - können wir über Film als sich in der Zeit entfaltende Kunst nachdenken.

Das Projekt entwickelt sich als eine wachsende Sammlung von Material und kombiniert Bezüge zum narrativen Film mit Dokumentarmaterial und Erkundungen von architektonischen/städtischen Räumen. In den Performances wird das Material live immer wieder anders gemischt: Ein Live-Kino, das die Atmosphäre der Vor-Kino-Zeiten der Camera Obscura und der Laterna Magica im Geiste einer Athanasius Kircher'schen Faszination mit Technologien des Sehens beschwört. Ich spiele mit Möglichkeiten und Begriffen der Programmierer der Linux Welt (Release, Open Source) und gleichzeitig mit solchen aus der Musik (Version, Remix)"

BLUE STORIES BACKGROUND

Roberto Paci Dalò's BLUE STORIES is a work in progress which consists of a series of live-performances, each of them a different version taking place in a different city and in differing contexts. BLUE STORIES has its own homepage, where - among other things -narrative elements of the series are unfolding in a "screenplay in progress".

Version 0.3 of BLUE STORIES, the live VIENNA REMIX takes place on the radio and in the Internet. i.e. it uses the expanded space of contemporary radio to adress a dispersed remote audience. Roberto Paci Dalò, one of the pioneers of radioart on the Internet (RADIOLADA went on line in 1995), was instrumental to the development and realisation of some of the groundbreaking networked collaborative simultaneous on air-(on line)-on site radioprojects as produced by Kunstradio since the early 90s. (Realtime, Horizontal Radio, etc). In his VIENNA REMIX of BLUE STORIES he makes use of the different charcteristics of simultaneous broadcasting and webcasting. He not only processes live- and recorded images for the web, but uses the radio and the WWW as different sound-channels, for which the same material can be rendered in different ways and/or by which entirely different material can be simulcast. Radio listeners within the reach of Ö1, or of Radio Austria International (shortwave) are thus offered the opportunity to use the sound from the radio-loudspeakers and the simultaneously (probably a little delayed) webcast sound to each create their own VIENNA REMIX soundinstallation inside the private space of their flat or office...

Roberto Paci Dalò: "Yves Klein and Derek Jarman drive me into the world of blue, of vision, of listening. Together with them the crucial Dziga Vertov's work and his kinoglaz. A 360 degrees work on cinema which reconnects early cinema with digital technologies in order to produce an old and new craftmanship of film art. Where - between expanded cinema and new formats - we can think about cinema as time art.

Through the creation of a series of modules both acoustical and visual I develop a series of performances released every time in a different way. Buildings and rooms inhabitated by the cinema which is produced in realtime in performance in front of the audience. Innovative electronica, cities, soundscapes, sampling as basic practices.

The project proceeds accumulating materials and combining fiction cinema with documentary and architectural / urban explorations. In the performance materials are mixed live. A live cinema which brings back the emotion for the "pre-cinema" made out of camera obscura and laterna magica in a Athanasius Kircher's spirit of. fascination for visionary technologies. I play with expressions and concepts of the Linux world's programmers (release, open source) and at the same time music (version, remix)."
