KUNSTRADIO - RADIOKUNST

Ausgangspunkt für das Stück "Himmelfart" von dem dänischen Künstler Niels Lyngsø bildet die Zweideutigkeit des Wortes Himmel. Zum einen ruft das Wort Himmel in vielen Menschen die Vorstellung einer besseren Welt hervor, jenseits der irdischen. Zum anderen denken wir an die Weiten dieses unendlich großen Raums, der fließend ins Weltall übergeht — den wir mit Hilfe unserer technischen Errungenschaften bereisen und erforschen und doch nie wirklich zu fassen bekommen. Dieser Zweideutigkeit folgend ist am Anfang des Stückes "Himmelfart" auf dem einen Audiokanal der Countdown einer Raumfähre unmittelbar vor ihrem Start zu hören, auf dem anderen Audiokanal piepst es aus einem EKG, bis ein Sterbender schließlich seinen letzten Atem aushaucht — der Beginn einer Reise zweier Männer an der Schwelle "zu einer anderen Welt".

"Himmelfart" von Niels Lyngsø ist im Rahmen von Lydmuren, der Radiokunst-Sendung des Dänischen Rundfunks entstanden, einem Mitglied der Ars Acustica Experten Gruppe der EBU (Europäische Rundfunk Union). Die Ars Acustica Experten Gruppe existiert seit 1989 und vereint Radiokunst-RedakteurInnen der öffentlich rechtlichen Rundfunkanstalten Europas, Kanadas und Australiens. Lydmuren war bereits bei vielen Live-Projekten ein Partner des Ö1 Kunstradios.

"Himmel" (it is the same word in danish and german) is an ambiguous word, it means both 'heaven' and 'sky'. This ambiguity is the starting point for HIMMELFART (in german: HIMMELFAHRT). In one channel there is a count-down for a spacecraft-launching. In the other channel, the beep-beep of a heart monitor is counting down to the final, everlasting tone. Lift-off! Goodbye! An old man disapears. Into Heaven or into the sky. In any case into another world. On the way, he reports what happens - or perhaps he just talks to himself. The journey goes through seven distinct heavens. Seven soundscapes where bits of melodies and indefinable noises float through collages of sound. Sometimes it is harmonious, sometimes it is chaotic. Sometimes there are no words, sometimes alot of them, sometimes only the raw sound of words. The text is a collage of qoutations from danish, christian hymns by great authors as Brorson, Grundtvig, Ingemann, Kingo and others. They are about the stars and the sun, about light and darkness, heat and coldness, about mountains, rivers, blood and bones. The describe what there is in Heaven - or in deep space.

Himmelfart from Niels Lyngsö was realized in the framework of Lydmuren, the Radioart-broadcast of the Danish Broadcasting Corporation, a member of the Ars Acustica Group of the EBU (European Broadcasting Union). The Ars Acustica Group exists since 1989 and brings together Radioart-Editors of the State run Broadcasting Corporations in Europe, Canada and Australia. Lydmuren has been a partner of Ö1 Kunstradio in a number of live-projects.
