Radio Classics is the name of a St. Petersburg radio station that plays only classical music, like Mozart, Bach, etc. The unusual thing about this station is its approach to the music in that it is put together by DJs.

Dmitry Shubin examined this radio station in a unique way for his live radio performance Radio Classics in conjunction with RE-INVENTING RADIO – The Long Night of Radio-Art. The well-known St. Petersburg artist roamed the city equipped with a microphone, a MiniDisc recorder, and a portable radio tuned to Radio Classics. On these walks he recorded the acoustic material that would become the common thread running through his radio work.
