This Radio Roadmovie is an exercise in armchair-travel, for the audience as well as the artist.
Roadmovies represent the most complete form of this type of journey, and this one has been made without the artist ever leaving his office – all the material was collected from netcasts of news-radio stations. The sequence of the samples represent a virtual journey from Vancouver to Brooklyn, quoting Matt Smith's 2002 production "Roadmovie", a video-CD featuring an interrupted timelapse from Brooklyn to Vancouver with a soundtrack created partially from radio-content recorded along the way. "All News All Traffic All the Time" follows the route from "Roadmovie" in reverse, using samples collected from local radiostations along the highways and cities between the two coasts, specifically: Vancouver, Lethbridge, Calgary, Regina, Winnipeg, Fargo, Minneapolis/St.Paul, Cincinnati, Chicago, Detroit, Windsor, Toronto, Buffalo, Rochester, New Jersey and New York – all recorded between June 6 and 8 2006.
