"Taking the radio station as its starting point, the festival opens on the « post - radiophonic »: an attempt at apprehending new kinds of expressions in sound and radio-art, which are propagating beyond a desire for control, propaganda or discourse. This is a radio inventing itself; in which the three genres of radiophonic art – fiction, documentary, sound art – are approached in their pure or porous forms, through the theme of contamination." (Radiophonic Collective, source: http://www.radiophonic.org/) Kunstradio is one of 11 European institutions that broadcast live one air. “Radiophonic Radiophony” is the title of the last event of the 4-day-festival. The following independent radio stations – all members of the RADIA network – contribute live streams: At the festival’s venue, Les Brigittines in Brussels, the contributions from abroad are “contaminated” by artists on stage. At 22:40 o’clock the artists duo Tonic Train perform live. Tonic Train are Knut Aufermann and Sarah Washington. They employ homemade electronic instruments as well as micro fm transmitters to create an abstract sound world that integrates acoustic and electromagnetic waves. Further information: |
