Sam Auinger, composer, radioartist and "sonic thinker", deals in his works mostly with everyday sounds of urban space. Being considered as one of the most important artists in sound Sam Auinger is honored to be Ars Electronica featured artist. In September 2011 Auinger transformed the cathedral in Linz into a soundinstallation with performative elements, at the art museum 'Lentos' in Linz Auinger presented together with Bruce Odland the sound installation Linz R2 in the public space in front of the museum’s entrance and a performance/lecture, for Kunstradio Sam Auinger developed a new radiopiece, which he describes as follows:

'The soundmaterial I use comes from my artistical research as citysoundartist of Bonn and my preparational studies for my work '100.000qm bewegte Luft' in the cathedral of Linz in the context of this year's Ars Electronica.'

As citysoundartist of Bonn Auinger moved through the city a lot in order to explore the phenomenon sound in Bonn. Out of his acoustical studies Auinger built the piece 'Sounds from my sketchbook' reflecting different states of rooms and frequency timbres. In order to highlight certain aspects a few recorded sounds of other places were mixed in, for example from Grand Central Station in Manhattan and a crowded street in India.
