Ars Sonora, a weekly radio art program on Spain's Radio Classica, was founded in 1985, two years before Kunstradio. On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the latter, Jose Iges of Ars Sonora has selected two works from the archive, reflecting his ties with Kunstradio.

„Happy Birthday Ars Sonora“ was a live radio piece, performed by the Austrian artists and musicians Rupert Huber and Mia Zabelka, a collaborative project of Kunstradio and Ars Sonora for the 20th birthday of Ars Sonora in 2005. At that time, both programs were brodcast on Sunday evenings, allowing the performance to be live on air in Austria and Spain at the same time. „I have selected this piece, because it represents the friendship between our programs“, says Iges, „and further it exemplifies the possibility to cross borders with radio art projects. This is also an aim of radio stations in the Ars Acustica group, the EBU's radio art group, where both Kunstradio and Ars Sonora have been active in.“

The second piece, Iges has selected, is „Die Vogelweissagung“ („The prophecy of birds“) by the poet, sound artists and ornithologist Georg Jappe and the ORF sound engineer Martin Leitner. „I find this piece very touching, just like the work by Georg Jappe and Martin Leitner in general. I didn't know Jappe very well, but I am friends with Martin Leitner, who has accompanied many of the projects I did with Kunstradio. Last year I was invited to curate a festival on birds' songs in Mexico, and I chose one of their pieces, 'Mit tausend Zungen', to be brodcast in a public square, with Martin giving a lecture, as well. This was a very impressive listening experience. And generally I consider their collaboration very beautiful.“
