| Kunstradio presents two productions by
Radio Catalunya Musica, so-called Listening proposals from the radio
art exchange network of the EBU Ars Acustica group. The first is an experimental music concert performed with computers. The performers use their laptops to generate and modify sounds. The concert was included in the SONAR Festival 2011, Barcelona’s International Festival of Progressive Music and Multimedia Art, in collaboration with ESCOLA SUPERIOR DE MÚSICA DE CATALUNYA (ESMUC). “The Wheel” is the name of the algorithm generating the music. The performers start from several sound samples. Every performer modifies the sound according to each one’s own process and personal control. This modified sound is broadcast to the loudspeakers and sent simultaneously to the next computer to be subject to a similar process. Both the samples and the algorithms used keep changing along the performance. Part of the orchestra was in MACBA and part in the Liceu Opera Theatre. Both orchestras were performing together and communicating through the Internet.
