»Invisible Cue» is a live recording made at the ORF studios in Wien, using live radio signals, voice, electronics, and software. The initial session was in late July 2013, and mixing occured throughout the month of August.

Working with live radios is a form of blind improvisation with oneself. The noisy interludes can be more useful to me than the musical stations selling advertising with sexy and bland music made by executives. But stumbling upon these frequency bands with their hyper-powerful broadcasting power is like getting dragged into a suburban black hole with a tractor beam made with glib love and teenage wisdom.

I try to use these musical sources as blunt percussion to break up the drones and noise washes that I create with my electronic utensils. With a background in junk metal percussion and world music, I miss rhythm in my musical creations, so this is an interesting and useful way to put it back in without jamming out on the bongos.

Some people can hear all noise as music; I can hear all music as noise. This keeps me present in the sonic moment, not sitting back on the drum beat and chorus, but awake and listening at every sound for the one that will enlighten me, the »invisible cue»
