On the 12th of february, the writers and friends Liesl Ujvary and Ann Cotten talked with each other about their profession and its philosophical background: it was a public conversation about work (Werkstattgespräch) in the literary forum Alte Schmiede in Vienna, following an invitation by Kurt Neumann. The radio play is based on the recording of this conversation. It revolved around the characteristics of writing and the production of literature and, more generally, sense. An earlier private conversation had already been recorded and acoustically manipulated so that the sentences periodically morph into rippling or scratchy, nagging or bouncing electronic music. This sensual acoustic flow is worked into the thought level of the conversation, forming contrasts and echoing the content as a kind of estranged acoustic plasma.
