For Kunstradio and the festival musikprotokoll (Graz, 3.-6.10.2019), Sarokin has developed a new work for radio, to mark the end of this year’s musikprotokoll.

1) „Zero plays“

In his “Zero plays” project Sarokin investigates eerie digital soundscapes: audio and video that have been uploaded to web and never viewed, hidden pieces of sound which exist only witnessed by algorithms; the loneliest digital voices in the most overcrowded place - the network’s phantom collectivity. Drawn to the fact that most of the content uploaded online is invisible when searching due to filtering algorithms, Anton decided to explore the sound of the deep – of zero-viewed and zero-listened to pieces of others’ everyday.

3) „101.2FM Ghostscape“

“This is pseudo-radio mix, reproduced from home recordings that I made 19 years ago, in 2000. It is dedicated to the alternative radio station based in Minsk, which I used to listen as a teenager. Using Sony Walkman tape player (identical to the one I was dreaming to have 17 years ago), I re-recorded two last programs of “Radio Style” from old tapes (which were found accidentally at parents’ home) and made a retrospective intro and a kind of invasion into the existing material from the past. The past which seems to be much more about the future than the present.” (A. Sarokin)
