RADIOKUNST - KUNSTRADIO

Art's Birthday 2020 - Review 2

Art is 1.000.057 years old!

Kunstradio presents recordings of Art's Birthday celebrations. On 17 January it was celebrated in many places. Robert Fillou's Art's Birthday is getting bigger and bigger and soon will overtake Christmas. It was transmitted LIVE to all EBU radio stations via EBU - European Broadcasting Union satellite channels Haydn and Liszt.

Lets go on a trip to Kaunas. On January 17th, Art's Birthday was celebrated there as well. The radio station Palanga Street Radio invited "Eye Gymnastics" to perform at the Kaunas' Artist's House. This sound file was transmitted LIVE to all EBU radio stations via EBU - European Broadcasting Union satellite channel Liszt.

In the performance, Eye Gymnastics combined guided texts inspired by hypnosis with gradually developing melodic interludes and chants. Listeners were invited to listen to the lyrics, be guided by them and walk through their own body landscapes and stumble across their inner emptiness.

Eye Gymnastics is the stage name of the Lithuanian contemporary artists Viktorija Damerell and Gailė Griciūtė. They work together on the performance of experimental songs, verbal instructions and incantations. In their investigations, sensual timbres merge with mental journeys, hypnosis and echoes of pop music.

TIP TOPOS FANTASMA transmitted by Swiss radio station RTS Espace2 from the Théâtre Oriental-Vevey. A beautiful immersion in imaginary landscapes from our filtering memories and dreams.
Pascal Auberson - at the piano, with sampler and his voice - offers art an original creation called "17 January 20h30". A performance in the form of a question to an imaginary being - a loved one, to whom we can ask the essential question of the necessity of creation.
Pascal Auberson is a passionate musician and talented multi-instrumentalist. He has been exploring many art forms for 40 years, from singing to free jazz, from theatre to contemporary dance, from dance to film music. Guitarist Dan Michiu celebrated Art's Birthday on the ROR Bucharest channel. The programme was broadcast from the Czech Centre in Bucharest.
Composed as a soundscape of modern uncertainty, the piece functions as a sequence of endless parts of a droning mantra. The direction is a mixture of architectural austerity, punk ethos and absurd humour, all immersed in a post-free, enhanced freshness. Dan Michiu is a guitarist who focuses on various aspects of alternative music. His activities are related to experimental and pop music, graphics, sound, film and performance.

The last staion of the trip is to Freiburg to the E-WERK. SWR 2 was broadcasting a live performance by Tomaga. This is the live duo Valentina Magaletti and Tom Relleen. Tomaga channel different forms of multi-instrumentalism into music that alternates between industrial, jazz, psychedelia and minimalism, on its way to something completely different. The London duo, dedicated to musical exploration, compulsively deconstructs the familiar and seeks the tension between improvisation and form. Tomaga was formed in 2014 and has already released an impressive discography.
Since its formation, Tomaga has been invited to tour with musical luminaries such as Stereolab, Wire, Deerhoof, Thurston Moore, FAUST, Lee Ranaldo and Silver Apples. This performance was also the last contribution of the transmissions on the EBU satellite Liszt.
