Digging into their archive of field recordings, The Foldable Sounds Collective has reimagined their project for radio, creating an hour-long exploration into sound and its capability as an archival, activist and transportative tool.
In a period of global stagnation, space and time travel has never felt so pertinent. Imagining sound as the new mode of borderless teleportation, Foldable Sounds collective devised a simple rule: 4 people to a track, 4 minutes of recording each, 2 days to pass it on. Via the retro method of email-chains, 120 participants from across the globe have contributed to this piece of sound.
We invite you to listen to the inner thoughts of a sonic community and a series of audible moments: clicks of fridges, songs of prayer across echoey courtyards and the incessant chirp of crickets.
Through Ö1 Kunstradio und musikprotokoll, we welcome listeners to engage and reconnect with their own times of isolation.
A concertina of global sonic experience, re-folded into an hour of your time.
