works in Berlin. His development as a composer bypassed colleges and academies of music; he taught himself to play the guitar and acquired the necessary theoretical knowledge alone. In 1983, he moved to Berlin, where he found his way into the rock scene, playing and performing for several years with underground bands. At the same time, he worked as a sound engineer and music producer at various recording studios. It was also at this point that he made his first experimental sound pieces. Between 1992 and 1996, he took on an educational role in the hip-hop scene, establishing the model project “Hip Hop Mobil”. He has organized musical exchange projects with the Goethe Institute in Cameroon and the City of Los Angeles; he has taught classes on a range of professional training programs; and he has published texts on alternative pedagogical concepts in the field of hip-hop culture. His debut as a composer of film music came in 1996 with the production of the theme music for the television series „Sperling“; the pilot directed by Dominik Graf was awarded the Adolf Grimme Prize and Andreas Bick’s soundtrack was nominated for the Rolf-Hans Müller Prize. Since then, he has composed for numerous cinema and television films and for several television series including the extremely successful „Berlin Berlin“, which won the International Emmy Award in 2004. Andreas Bick also makes sound compositions and radio play soundtracks for various German radio broadcasters. Between 2000 and 2003, he worked on a triptych of sound art pieces on pattern-forming processes in nature. In 2000, „Dripping“ was awarded WDR’s Prix Ars Acustica, and in 2002, „Windscapes“ won the Karl Sczuka Förderpreis. He has composed and produced several other sound art compositions for the Studio Akustische Kunst of WDR and Deutschlandradio Kultur, lately he finished the works „Fire and Frost Pattern“ that were awarded the first radio and sound art prize at the Phonurgia Nova competition. „Frost Pattern“ received a mention at the 35th International Competition of Electroacoustic Music and Sonic Art at Bourges 2008 as well. His newest works „Chronostasis“ and „Phonemenon“ were broadcasted recently at WDR. „Chronostasis“ won a World Silver Medal at the New York Festivals Award 2009 for Best Sound. Apart from that Andreas Bick also composed music for the dance theater piece „The Waste Land“ choreographed by Ismael Ivo and premiered at this years Venice Biennale. ******* Bick wurde 1964 im niedersächsischen Marl geboren und lebt als Film- und Radiokomponist in Berlin. Er lernte autodidaktisch Gitarre spielen und zog 1983 nach Berlin, wo er für einige Jahre in Underground-Bands spielte und auftrat. Daneben arbeitete er als Tontechniker und Musikproduzent in verschiedenen Tonstudios, in dieser Zeit entstanden auch die ersten experimentellen Klangkompositionen in Studios des Berliner Kultursenats. Zwischen 1992 und 1996 war Andreas Bick als Musikpädagoge in der Hip Hop Szene tätig und baute das Modellprojekt "Hip Hop Mobil" auf. Er organisierte Musikaustauschprojekte mit dem Goethe-Institut in Kamerun und der Stadt Los Angeles, war als Dozent in beruflichen Qualifizierungsmaßnahmen tätig und veröffentlichte Texte zu alternativen musikpädagogischen Konzepten im Bereich der Hip-Hop-Kultur. Seinen Einstieg als Filmmusik-Komponist erlebte er 1996 mit der Produktion der Titelmusik zur Fernsehreihe Sperling, der Pilotfilm unter der Regie von Dominik Graf wurde mit dem Adolf-Grimme-Preis ausgezeichnet und die Filmmusik von Andreas Bick für den Rolf-Hans-Müller-Preis nominiert. Seitdem entstanden zahlreiche Filmmusiken zu Kino- und Fernsehfilmen und einigen Fernsehserien, darunter die äußerst erfolgreiche Jugendserie „Berlin Berlin“, die u. a. 2004 mit dem International Emmy Award ausgezeichnet wurde. Daneben realisierte Andreas Bick Klangkompositionen und Hörspielmusiken für verschiedene Radiosender. Zwischen 2000 und 2003 arbeitete er an einem Triptychon von Hörbildern zu natürlichen Musterbildungsprozessen. Die Klangkomposition „dripping“ erhielt den Prix Ars Acustica 2000 des WDR und das Stück „windscapes“ wurde 2002 mit dem Karl-Sczuka-Förderpreis ausgezeichnet. 2006 und 2007 entstanden die beiden Hörstücke „fire und frost pattern“, mit denen Bick den Phonurgia Nova Preis 2008 gewann. „Frost pattern“ erhielt darüber hinaus eine Erwähnung beim 35. Wettbewerb für elektroakustische Musik und Klangkunst in Bourges 2008. Seine neuesten Kompositionen „chronostasis“ und „phonomenon“ wurden neulich im Hörspielprogramm des WDR uraufgeführt.
