| John Blake: 1945, Rhode Island. Lives in London and Amsterdam. John Blake is an artist who works in a very original way with many different media - photography, light, metal etc, - combining them sculpturally in large assemblages and installations. His work has been shown and collected widely and he has participated in numerous exhibtions throughout Europe, North and South America and Japan. John Blake has a special interest in creating sculptural installations in the public space and has recently been developing the concept of networked multi-location installations - for example: "Mehr Luft" for the railway stations in Vienna, Graz and Maribor" - and, in a second version, for the Innsbruck university, Magazin 4 in Bregenz and the Galerie Museum in Bozen/Bolzano. Blake ist ein Künstler, der auf sehr eigenständige Art in verschiedenen Medien und mit unterschiedlichem Material arbeitet - Fotografie, Licht, Metall usw. Er kombiniert diese Medien und Materialien in großen skulpturalen Assemblagen und Installationen. Seine Arbeiten wurden in zahlreichen Ausstellungen in ganz Europa sowie in Nord- und Südamerika gezeigt und sind in den Sammlungen internationaler Museen vertreten. Blakes besonderes Interesse gilt skulpturalen Installationen im öffentlichen Raum. In jüngster Zeit arbeitet er an vernetzten Multi-Location-Installationen wie z.B. "Mehr Luft" für Bahnhöfe in Wien, Graz und Maribor und - in einer zweiten Version - für die Universität Innsbruck (TRANSIT), das MAGAZIN 4 in Bregenz und die Galerie Museum, Bozen. |
