Susanna Caprara (La Cosa Preziosa)

Sound artist and field recordist originally from the south of Italy and based in Dublin, Ireland. Projects include 'Mean Time' at the Dublin Institute of Design (CFCP New Voices of Ireland 3), Soundscape Yoga for the HearSay International Audio Festival, Sound Conversations (BAI-funded radio series), Sound Devices, a series of listening events for Rathmines Public Library/ UNESCO Dublin City of Literature and a large scale Public Art Commission on the subject of the Irish Grand Canal (Offaly County Council/ Dept. of the Environment and Local Government) developed over the course of a six-month engagement in collaboration with the local community.

Teaching & facilitating include guest lecturing for Trinity College Dublin's Music Composition Centre, talks/ workshops for the LUAN Gallery Athlone, Temple Bar Gallery + Studios, the HearSay International Audio Festival and more.

Recipient of the 2Europe: A Sound Panorama" juried prize for soundscape art (Goethe Institut Belgrade, Deutschland Radio Kultur, ZKM Institut for Music and Acoustics Karlsruhe, Radio Belgrad, European Broadcasting Union Ars Acoustica Group), a Dublin City Council Project Award (2015), a Culture Ireland Travel Award to Canada (2011), a Dublin City Council Artist Bursary for Music (2012), a Migrant Artists on Ireland and a New Voices of Ireland bursaries (Centre For Creative Practices, 2013 and 2015).

In addition to her sound work, Susanna regularly tweets and blogs about her weekly adventures in sound and creativity.
