Born in Casablanca in 1983, Laila Hida now lives and works in Marrakech.

Laila Hida is a self-taught photographer and cultural activist, engaged in matters such as education, women condition and urban transformations.
After studying journalism and communications, she worked as a producer for a Paris fashion magazine. While on staff, she discovered fashion photography, lighting, and staging, and decided to leave after 5 years on the job to dedicate herself full-time to her personal projects. At first, she took pictures of industrial buildings and abandoned factories, reworking the images to create surrealist scenes. Portraiture has allowed her to continue this process of carefully staging her photographs.
She collaborates on fashion projects, especially with designer Art/C. Together they crafted a photo series in the style of a family album, drawing on the language of memory and nostalgia.
Her recent works are getting more introspective, using her own life as a subject of research and extensively her surrounding and any social interaction as a matter of interest.
By found-ing Le 18 Derb el ferrane http://le18.weebly.com, an alternative cultural space and artist residency in the old medina of Marrakech, Laila has organised, with the collaboration of local and international artists, researchers and cultural actors, exhibitions, series of meetings, workshops and alternative levels the major lines of the artist research.
