Paul Plimley


Vancouver-based PAUL PLIMLEY is a pianist/composer/improviser active nationally and internationally for the past 24 years. His music is the result of playing, studying and receiving inspiration from European classical music (continuing through the 20th century), and the entire scope of American music (Jazz, blues, 50's through 70's pop, etc. ). He has toured many times throughout Europe, Canada and the United States. In 1995 he received the Freddie Stone Award and the CD ROM portion of Everything In Stages (featured for both Mac and Windows 95 platforms) has won five majormultimedia awards from Vancouver and Edmonton 1995/97 Wired/Macuser magazines in New York City, the silver prize from Newmedia Invision, and first prize in the Adobe CD ROM Multimedia competition, Golden Apple Award from National Educational Media, and an EMMA award from the International CD ROM showcase in Frankfurt, Germany. Also, the Canada Council has just awarded a recording grant to Paul and fellow composer Mark Armanini to record their improvised piano concerto for symphony orchestra on CD.
