Andrew Garton (19/05/62)

Andrew Garton has an extensive background in experimental electronic composition, the performing and digital arts. He has a strong interest in public communications, spending a considerable portion of the past seven years working on public access computer network projects in Australia, Southeast Asia and Indochina.

Since the late 80's Garton began integrating telecommunications with his performance and sound installations. His current work explores the reclamation of public space via generative sound-scapes and the Internet as theatre of suspended space.

Garton is founder of the artists run multimedia production house, Toy Satellite and is editor of the Internet mail-drop magazine, Satellite Dispatch. He is currently doing an MA at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology's Centre for New Media Arts; a non-traditional web-based opera titled Auslaender und Staatenlose.
