Esti Kenan - Ofri
Was born in Italy and raised in Israel. As many creators and performers she views
dance and music as a single art embracing choreography dance singing and playing.
Her artistic development has been inspired by the rich and varied traditions of song and
dance in Isreal.
She has studied dance in Israel and in the USA under such teachers as Rina Schoenfeld,
Alvin Nicolais, Murray Louis.
She studied music at the Tel-Aviv Music Academy and percussion at the Jerusalem Rubin
Academy. She studied Arabic Music with the composer Shlomo Ziv-Li.
In 1992 she sang with Placido Domingo in Noam Sheriff's composition making the five
hundredth anniversary of the expulsion of the Jews from Spain. Performed in Toledo by
Israeli Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Zubin Mehta. She performs frequently with
Luciano Berio who has composed an Aria in his piece Ofanim especially for her.
In 1993 she created a Music and Choreography piece for the "Inbal" dance theater based
on Spain Jewis Lullabies.
