KUNSTRADIO ON LINE began in April 1995. The first version (in Netscape 1.1) was designed by Robert Adrian and installed by Gerfried Stocker and Martin Schitter as a demo version at the IFABO computer fair in Vienna and then immediately went on line on the server of "THE THING Vienna".
Since then KUNSTRADIO ON LINE has grown from being a simple tool for announcing and archiving KUNSTRADIO program information to become a point of entry for "radio artists" into the world-wide networks of communication.
The KUNSTRADIO ON LINE concept is to provide a simple, user-friendly and attractive interface to projects by artists, program data, archive material etc. It is produced on Macintosh computers and designed for Netscape 2.0 or later -- other browser/hardware combinations may experience some loss of quality.
In addition to comissioning projects, KUNSTRADIO encourages artists to expand concepts intended for the weekly radio program to include web and/or webcast elements.
KUNSTRADIO and KUNSTRADIO ON LINE began to work with Webcasts as soon as servers became available and, with the support of Compaq (encoding computer) and VIANET (RealAudio-Live server) have installed a Webcast Studio in ORF studio RP4. Webcasting has developed so quickly that KUNSTRADIO now webcasts more than it broadcasts.
