The Jerusalem based group SALA-MANCA was founded by and consists of Diego Rotman and Lea Mauas, who themselves are not from Israel.
SALA-MANCA's first production was "Meditations of a Queen in Exile"(2000). It was produced at the Bikurei Ha-Etim Center in Tel Aviv, The Inter-disciplinary Arena in Jerusalem, and Bet Argentina in Jerusalem. Since then, SALA-MANCA has produced numerous works in various fields.
The group took part in the 18th Jerusalem Film
Festival and the Poetry-Performance Festival at the Interdisciplinary Arena. They also presented the multimedia events EARA 2 (Comment 2), in Jerusalem's Seidoff Court featuring over 20 artists, and EARA 3 (Comment 3), in the Argentinian House (Jerusalem), dedicated to Sound&Text Works, featuring 30 artists.
They exhibited their work in the collective exhibition "Imagine--Artists for Co-Existence" in Israel's Plonit Gallery. In July 2002 they presented their work, Earat Shulaym, and works from Israeli video-artists in Free103point9 in Williambsburg-New York.
