"here we go"

Eine Radioarbeit von Karl Leitgeb

für 2 Stimmen, 1 Dirigenten, 5 Radioempfängern
und einem Stereosender mit:
Karl Leitgeb, Alexandra Millner,
John Moraitis und Anastasios Strikos

live aus dem ORF Studio RP4
[ English Version ]

H.C. Artmann, Peter O. Chotjewitz, Oliver Claes, Jörg Drews, Sigmund Freud, Peter Gölz, Marlies Janz, Elfriede Jelinek, Renate Kroll, Jacques Lajarrige, Joseph Thomas Sheridan Le Fanu, Peter von Matt, Eva Meyer, Alexandra Millner, Adolf Muschg, Octavio Paz, Susanne Pütz, Karl Riha, Bram Stoker, Dieter Sturm, Gerhard van Swieten, Silvia Volckmann.
Fledermaussample von: Manfred Neubacher

Kanal 2:

Tonight's live radio performance "here we go" is defined and formed by three parallel "levels of action". With his arrangement, the conductor destines the grade of their condensation, their overlapping as well as he creates the "rhythm" of the piece by interacting with and mixing the 2 mono channels - with radio receivers resp. voices.

Channel 1:

2 Microphones: Selected text clippings and quotations from primary and secondary literature on "vampirism" are recited live by Alexandra Millner and John Moraitis. The recitation has an optically and acoustically performative character and is modulated by the intensity and pitch of the voices. The conductor decides when and which of the voices (male or female) to use.

The texts and quotations are from:

H.C. Artmann, Peter O. Chotjewitz, Oliver Claes, Jörg Drews, Sigmund Freud, Peter Gölz, Marlies Janz, Elfriede Jelinek, Renate Kroll, Jacques Lajarrige, Joseph Thomas Sheridan Le Fanu, Peter von Matt, Eva Meyer, Alexandra Millner, Adolf Muschg, Octavio Paz, Susanne Pütz, Karl Riha, Bram Stoker, Dieter Sturm, Gerhard van Swieten, Silvia Volckmann.
Sample from "The Bat": Manfred Neubacher

Channel 2:

Karl Leitgeb feeds channel 2 with sounds from 5 radios which he interweaves live with a mixer to a "radio frequency soundscape" and then sends to the transmitter mixer. A clock serves as orientation support.

Third level of action:

The conductor Anastasios Strikos. His "conducting instruments" are a microphone, a mixer and the decision over time. Microphone: It's open for personal memories of the conductor from the time where the project came into being - stories, dreams, jokes - anecdotes which are the core of a mental score and are interpreted by use of the mixer.
Mixer: The conductor's mixer is fed with the sounds from channel 1 and 2 which can be overlapped, played singularily, or each turned down totally. The conductor's microphone overlaps both channels.
Decision over time: The length of Kunstradio's time-slot defines the length of the live radio piece. The "relative" time of each channel resp. level of action on air is defined by the conductor.
