"Virtual violin virtuoso" (THE
WIRE)
Essex female Kaffe Matthews has been making and performing new music
and working cross discipline via all kinds of digital gadgetry around
the world for the past ten years. The music is vast, sculpted into textual
landscapes, vibrating technohymns, through her on stage processings
with LiSa (Steim software), sometimes with choice selection of random
material via carefully located outside microphones. She introduced the
course Performance Technology to Dartington College of Arts (91-95)
and has worked as a director with the London Musicians' Collective and
Sonic Arts Network. Matthews has worked with Christian Fennesz, Pansonic,
Jon Rose, Butch Morris and Charles Hayward. Further, she owns the label
Annette Works, where
she released her CDs cd Ann and cd Bea.
