Live rooftop sound installation
Cargnelli/Szely/Bosshard

Architectonic Sound Event

The sound-architectonic live input to the whole WUK interior from the rooftop of the middle building should set a signal as a city project, to establish sound in public space and to launch a network of sound-producing units. Cargnelli/Szely/Bosshard will work with the sounds of the environment from the rooftop with three inter-connected mixing places. Using also electronic and other sounds, they will create a spatial-acoustic sound environment.
From the rooftop of the middle building, there will be two traverse constructions to the opposite buildings where a swing with integrated loudspeakers will be installed. The visitors are meant to use these swings, to move the loudspeakers and thus the sound, interfering actively with the sound waves. These interventions should be understood as a selective window, as a public sound observatory, which functions similarly to star observatories.
