For the project urban sound stories vol. 01-05, I spent two
days in Dublin, the capital and biggest city of the Republic of
Ireland. I searched for interesting sounds which characterize the city.
It was not easy to find fine, rhythmic, and multilayered sounds in the
permanent noise of engines and voices - which sometimes appeared to me
as a mixture of annoying and disturbing frequencies. The flight into
parks was part of the project, of course. But it also became a physical
need. The park, too, though, was not quiet. The noise of the city left
no room for silence. I still tried to capture sounds, that vary from
the more dominant and familiar soundscape. With each recording I felt
closer to the city, listening into it. I very much enjoyed the moments
in which I immerged into the sounds and become one with them. Blackrock: Wicklow Mountains: |
