Dreams and Tears of Anna Karenina (What Tolstoy didn't write)".
A radio musical
by Jasmin Hoffer and Oleg Soulimenko with Gustavo Petek and Rosemarie Poiarkov
In the city Kandalakscha, which is full of music, situated in the northwest of Russia at the White Sea, the inspiration already touched some of the greatest Russian geniuses.
The two artists Jasmin Hoffer and Oleg Soulimenko bring the dreamlike atmosphere of this city on air: Anna Karenina finally gets her own radio musical!
In the musical, the well-known quoted heroine of one of the supposedly best novels of all time escapes her originator, the moralist and anarcho-pacifist Leo Nikolajewitsch Tolstoi. Anna dreams of being another. She dances the leading role in the premiere of Tchaikovsky's "Swan Lake" at the Bolshoi Theatre. The listeners are part of this live performance, also when Anna celebrates her birthday as Nastassja Filippowna in Dostoevsky's "The Idiot" and when Anna dreams of being the witch Margarita from Mikhail Bulgakov's "The Master and Margarita", when she is flying over Moscow at night.
Anna Karenina's dreams culminate in the heavenly farewell to all the Russian geniuses who wanted to tell Anna what to dream of. (Lo-fi of the finest!)
Sing along!
