"RADIOTOPIA - a rehearsal of spectrum takeover" is a radio summer camp with international radio artists on the MS STUBNITZ in Hamburg harbor. The 4-day CAMP RADIO STUBNITZ gathers artists who are looking for new ways in the independent artistic examination of the electromagnetic spectrum. Together they will experiment with radio transmissions in all possible frequencies - wifi, bluetooth, mobile, cb, amateur and ISM bands - and try to use the enormous EM spectrum, which unfortunately is not seen as an alternative communication strategy to the internet, and legally transmit signals, but also claim them.
The MS Stubnitz is an 80-meter-long motor ship of the deep-sea fishing fleet from GDR times and has been converted into a mobile platform for music, cultural production, documentation and communication since 1993. Currently docked in the Port of Hamburg, the MS Stubnitz serves as a venue for live music, exhibitions, performances and media art.
"Radiotopia - A REHEARSAL OF SPECTRUM TAKEOVER" was organized by Stadtwerkstatt in Linz and MS Stubnitz in Hamburg in collaboration with Ö1 Kunstradio and ∏node in Paris and Mulhouse. Initiated and organized by Shu Lea Cheang, Adriana Knouf and Franz Xaver.
