Víctor Manuel Rivas-Dávalos

Radio artist. Born in Morelia, Michoacán, México. In 1995 he moved to Guanajuato city where he studied with Dr. Roberto Morales Manzanares at the LIM (Laboratory of Computer Music) from Music Department of the University of Guanajuato. He works at University of Guanajuato Radio since 1996.

He has participated in several events and sound art festivals such as Festival Internacional Callejón del Ruido (Noise Alley), Festival Internacional de Arte Contemporáneo de León (FIAC), Festival Internacional Cervantino (FIC), Bienal Internacional de Radio (Mexico city) and Festival of Electronic Arts and Video Transitio MX 04.

He has also participated in some compilations:
- “El arte sonoro en México” (Sound art in Mexico) from RAS (Revista de Arte Sonoro) edited by Centro de Creación Experimental de la Facultad de Bellas Artes de la Universidad de Castilla-La Mancha. 2005.
- “Personae” edited by Motín Poeta and Instrumenta Oaxaca. 2006.
- “Reconstrucciones Sonoras de la Revolución Mexicana” (Sound Reconstructions of the Mexican Revolution) edited by Fonoteca Nacional de México (National Sound Archive). 2009.

He has received recognition and prizes:
He won the 1st place in the radio art contest in the 1st Meeting of Alternative Radio. Toluca, Estado de México. 1999.
He won the 1st place in the radio art contest at the Third Biennial International Radio. Mexico city. 2000.
He received support in the Young Artists category from the State Fund for Culture and the Arts of the State. Institute of Culture of Guanajuato. 2000.
Hhe obtained an honorable mention in the competition for the IV International Biennial of Radio. Mexico city. 2000.
He received support in the Experiencied Artist category from State Fund for Culture and the Arts of the State .Institute of Culture of Guanajuato.  2003.
He gets an honorable mention in the competition for the radio art V International Biennial of Radio. Mexico city. 2004.
He gets support from FONCA México and the Ministry of Culture of Colombia for an artist residency in Colombia. 2004.
In 2008 He received recognition in the sound postal contest within the Macabre Radio Festival organized by the IMER (Mexican Institute of Radio). 2008.
He obtained the 2nd place in the competition of radio art of VII International Biennial of Radio. Mexico city. 2008.
