Opening Performance "Memory Loop" by alien productions - May 11th 20:00 CET - Documentation online!

"RE-PLAY - the beginnings of international media-art in Austria" was a project of the Generali Foundation in Vienna. The project took the form of an exhibition which extended into radio, TV and the Internet and was accompanied by a book. An audio CD is in production. The project deals with media-art by Austrian artists and international media-art-events in Austria in the 70ies. It also includes the documentation of early telecommunication-projects which originated in Austria in the early 80ies.

The audio-/radio-part of "RE-PLAY" was coproduced by Kunstradio, which - although it was only founded in 1987 - considers developments in the 70ies (events, exhibitions, artists initiatives, radio) and early 80ies (art & telecommunication) as part of its own history and is still informed by them.

RE-PLAY Audio / Radio consisted of several parts:

on site:  the sound-part of the exhibition on the premises of the Generali Foundation included:

- the reconstruction of several installations from the 70ies

- a specific selection of international audioworks from the 70ies

- records, audio-cassettes, books, sketches etc.

on air:

- for the duration of the exhibition a series of Kunstradio's weekly programs commented and (re-) broadcasted historical material from the 70ies.

on line: Kunstradio on line presents

- the exhbition's selection of soundworks and

- additional historical material as well as

- (live) webcasts such as the opening performance of the exhibition and the radio-broadcasts.

RE-PLAY UPDATE
