A Generative Composition
Samples are manipulated
to collide with each other in
often sensual and ever
changing mutations.
Sensorium Scan is a generative composition in twelve movements. Six movements have been completed and are available from The Sensorium. Three pieces from the current collection are on exhibit at the Blue Armory (Virginia, USA).

The Sensorium is a series of compositions by Andrew Garton, a long-term work-in-progress towards a permanent installation - an immersive, interactive and evolving acoustic space.

Sensorium Scan is a generative Robin Rimbaud (a.k.a. Scanner) quote sampler - a reconstructed collage of a lecture Rimbaud gave at the Australian Centre for Contemporary Art, 1996 Melbourne Fringe and Cyberfringe Festival.

Each of the six movements could be described as an aural metaphor for Rimbaud's foray into scanning culture, the source of much of his creations. Sensorium Scan, commentary and discourse re-contextualised by the generative process of the composition and the software that assists in its mutation.

Generative music is never heard the same twice. Sensorium Scan, in its true form, is ever changing. It was created with Koan generative music software from SSEYO.

Sensorium Scan is the one of five Sensorium projects currently under development.

Sensorium Connect / Body Morph, a thirty minute collage and audio documentary based on the work of performance artist, Stelarc. Commissioned by the Listening Room (Australian Broadcasting Corporation) it is scheduled to go to air and online 18 August 97.

Sensorium Sphere is a composition for double quartet and computer. It explores opportunities for interactive listening and democratised seating / performing arrangements for musicians.

Sensorium Cache, generative sound and sculptural installation in collaboration with designer and installation artist, Kim Bounds. The resonance of accumulated energies captured within decommissioned factories - resonance shaped by memories stored and revealed.

Sensorium Dial is a proposed installation and dual radio and net cast for Recycling the Future (December 97), KunstRadio (ORF).

Robin Rimbaud's talk was made possible with the support of the Australian Network for Art and Technology, Contemporary Art and Technology, Australian Centre for Contemporary Art and the Melbourne Fringe Festival.

Sensorium Scan was made possible with the generous assistance of SSEYO KoanMusic, Creative Labs, WiredAudio and Pegasus Networks.
